On December 8, 1946, approximately 20 people, sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church, met to organize Dock Junction Mission Sunday School. On October 26, 1947 members of the above mentioned and of the Ballard School community met to constitute a Baptist Church. Several other pastors of nearby churches joined them and it was proposed, voted on, and passed to start the Pine Ridge Baptist Church with 21 charter members.
At this time the congregation was meeting at the home of Mr. & Mrs. J.J. Crosby. In January of 1948 Reverend S. A. Beaver was called as its first full-time pastor. Ground breaking was done later in that year for a permanent meeting place. The first Vacation Bible School was led in 1948. Army units were being used as educational space. Seeing the need for a permanent education wing, one was added in 1951, followed by a new building in 1957. As the membership continued to grow, the congregation felt the Spirit moving them to establish a new mission. In 1960 two lots were bought that would eventually house the new Trinity Baptist Church. Over the following years the membership of Pine Ridge continued to grow.
Over the past 70-plus years, Pine Ridge Baptist Church has called 11 senior pastors and various associate pastors to lead music, youth and at one time a Hispanic sub group of the congregation.
Currently the church offers worship services, Sunday School for both children and adults, small group Bible studies, outreach ministries through a clothes closet (since 1997), home visitations and Vacation Bible School. There is also an opportunity to sing in the choir.
As a congregation we look forward to meeting you and to minister to new visitors in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Come and hear the preaching and teaching of God's Word and enjoy the fellowship of our current church family.
